IB DP Options at RHS

Diploma Candidate

The IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) is an internationally recog-nized, holistic educational experi-ence. Due to the rigor of the pro-gramme’s instruction and it’s assess-ments, IBDP students are sought after by universities. Students who participate in the IBDP have been found to be more successful in their college studies. 

 

To achieve the IB Diploma students must complete the following: 

  • Take 6 IB Courses including 3 HL and 3 SL 

  • Take at least 1 IB course from each of the following: Language and Literature, Language Acquisition, Individuals and Societies, Sciences, Mathematics, Arts 

  • Complete the Internal and External Assessments for their IB DP courses 

  • Take the Theory of Knowledge (TOK) course and complete the Internal and External Assessments 

  • Complete CAS, including 150 CAS hours and the completion of at least 1 CAS project

  • Complete the Extended Essay (EE), a 4,000 word independent research project 

  • Earn a minimum of 24 total IB points through the 6 IB courses, TOK and the EE

MPS DP Medallion Candidate

To achieve the RHSMPS Medallion students must complete the following: 

  • Take at least 3 IB DP courses over two years 

  • Complete the Internal and External Assessments for their IB DP courses 

  • Take Theory of Knowledge (TOK) and complete the Internal and External Assessments 

  • Complete CAS, including 75 CAS hours and the completion of at least 1 CAS project

Diploma Course Participant

All RHS 11th and 12th grade students are encouraged to take at least 1 DP course. Students can take as many, or as few DP courses as they would like. Students taking DP courses, but not pursuing the Diploma or MPS Medallion are considered to be Partcipants.
